In July, I swapped the clinic for the French countryside and fully immersed myself in the magic of the Tour de France. No, I wasn’t racing (can you imagine?)
But I was right there on the roadside, soaking up the atmosphere, watching the peloton fly past, and cheering on my fantasy team like a true super fan!
We followed two stages, including one that featured the iconic Mur de Bretagne climb. This short but savage 2km ascent tests even the toughest legs. With brilliant parking spots (roadside one day, designated field the next), we joined crowds of fellow fans. Germans, French, Italians and Dutch all united in their love of the race, the riders, and the thrill of the chase.
And let me tell you – it’s not just a sporting event, it’s a celebration. The community spirit is incredible. You find yourself chatting to strangers, sharing snacks, and swapping rider tips. And don’t even get me started on my new favourite: Ben Healy in pink. Go on, Ben!
Why the Tour de France Inspires Cyclists Everywhere
For over 120 years, the Tour has captivated millions. It’s a 3-week display of strength, stamina, strategy—and a bit of madness. With flat-out sprints, punishing mountain stages, and unexpected twists, it’s a true test of body and mind.
But beyond the Lycra and the gradients, it’s a reminder of what movement can do for us all—physically, mentally, emotionally.
Whether you’re a weekend freewheeler, a daily commuter, or training for your next challenge. The lessons of the Tour offer plenty of physio tips for cyclists of all levels.

💪 Every climb is possible
Watching those incredible riders tackle the Mur de Bretagne was a reminder that training must strike a balance between strength, flexibility, and endurance. It alos demonstrated that with proper preparation, support, and determination, even the most challenging climbs can become achievable.

Even elite cyclists have rest days built into their plans because recovery is where progress happens. Listen to your body—if something feels off, a physio can help prevent a minor issue becoming a major one.
