Release the tension this Christmas. Roll those shoulders back and lengthen that spine. Take a moment or two to breathe and be grateful. Let the panic recede and allow the moment you are in to be all that matters.
Christmas is the time of year when rushing about seems to be the order of the day and when the to-do list is growing daily. Yet, if you stop, you will see the beauty around you: twinkling lights, frost on the ground, and a mystical fog in the morning.
I am one of those people who love Christmas, the tree, the lights – gifting and the excitement of children. The coming together of family and being with loved ones. And I’ve been super fortunate to have just spent a delightful few days in Vienna, which has got me into the festive spirit.
But back to how to release that Christmas tension.
Be mindful of rushing about. A quick turn or twist might result in pulling a muscle or putting your back out. And we don’t want that. Nor do we want you to trip, which is another hazard at this time of year – so watch out for those trailing light wires.
Consider how much you are carrying. Too heavy, and your shopping bags could cause a neck or shoulder injury. Plus, an extra trip or two back to your car to unload your shopping provides a beautiful opportunity for a few more steps and to take in the festive scene.
Remember to bend your knees. Yes, bend those knees when lifting furniture to create space for Christmas lunch and all the family. When moving any furniture with weight to it, ask for help and make it a two-man/woman job whenever possible.
Make time for yourself and say no if you need to. I know, saying NO is tough, but rushing about, carrying more than you need, and not bending your knees won’t make you a happy Christmas elf. So, make sure you allow yourself time and space to sit.
Take time to sit in gratitude for all that you’ve achieved. December is a perfect time for reflection, celebrating all you’ve achieved, the tiny wins and the progress made. Gift yourself moments of indulgence when you take in what is around you to prevent the holidays passing you by.
And since I’ve mentioned reflection.
What an incredible year it has been at Sarum. Joining the team, we have gorgeous new physios, an acupuncturist, and a sports massage specialist. All are joining us, mellow trusted oldies, and strengthening the Sarum family while broadening our offering and extending our opening hours.
Every new team member brings their own little bit of magic and area of expertise. Adding to the laughter, fun times, and multi-disciplined approach to your treatment that you’ve come to expect from us.
Of course, it’s not wonderful for everyone, and in this crazy world we are living presently, our thoughts are with those who won’t have the luxury of a festive holiday.
