Trichology is the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the human hair and scalp. While it’s normal to lose between 50 and 100 hairs a day without even noticing, it can be the result of illness and extremely distressing. Although some forms are permanent such as the pattern of baldness, others are temporary and may have been caused by stress or cancer treatment.
Hair loss can be very upsetting, no matter the initial trigger because for many hair is an important part of who they are. This applies to both men and women.
At Sarum Physio, we work in association with Marilyn Sherlock MIT MAE – Chairman of The Institute of Trichologists. Marilyn is registered and specialises in litigation reports in criminal and civil cases where hair is involved.
Dr John Gray works alongside Marilyn and joined the team at Sarum in 2018. He offers clinical and diagnostic analysis of hair and scalp disorders. He has published many books on hair disorders and has a special interest in cosmetic problems.
