Pilates

Aims to strengthen the body in an even way, paying particular attention to core strength resulting in improved general health and well-being. Suitable for all ages, and levels of fitness and abilities.

There are various forms and at Sarum Physio Alison Sheeley practices Modified Pilates, which is based on the original 34 Pilates mat work exercises. A form which has been modified to reflect the latest research and evidence in back and neck injury, core stability and muscle imbalance.

Regular Pilates can help improve posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension. For elite athletes, Pilates can complement training by developing whole body strength and flexibility to help reduce the risk of injury.
